💰 How We Determine a Restaurant’s Price Range

The pricing labels in this guide (like “Budget-Friendly,” “Mid-Range Dining,” and “Upscale Dining”) are typically based on estimated cost per person for a typical meal (entrée, drink, appetizer or dessert), combined with other cues like menu offerings, ambiance, service style, and venue reputation. Here’s a framework you can use to get an idea:

💵 Price Label – based on average ticket per person

Budget-Friendly – Under $15–$20 – Cafes, casual eateries, quick service

Mid-Range Dining$20–$35 – Sit-down restaurants, bars, grills, family spots

Upscale Dining – $35–$60+ – Steakhouses, seafood joints, refined venues

Fine Dining – $60–$100+ – Chef-driven menus, dress codes, premium plating

We also factor in:

Audience cues: If most diners are celebrating anniversaries, that’s a signal.

Ingredients: Lobster, dry-aged steak, imported wine — likely upscale.

Ambiance: White linens and custom lighting vs. beach shack vibes.

Service: Table service with sommeliers or tasting menus implies fine dining.

Some folks idea of “low-budget” or “Upscale” may be different than other folks. So if you see a buffet in a building about to fall apart and it says “upscale”, don’t fret! It just means the average ticket per person ticks the upscale box.

⭐ How We Rate Restaurants

We blend public reviews from places like Google, Tripadvisor, Yelp, and Restaurantji into one fair and balanced score. We look at overall rating, number of reviews, and recurring themes — whether folks are hyping the shrimp tacos or praising the warm service. More reviews means more confidence, but we also listen closely to what locals are loving (or not) as well.

We also have our own review section at the end of each listing, which you are welcome to provide feedback. We just prefer to average the ratings across all platforms for a more accurate overview. Think of it as a community-powered scorecard. (I know, we are a little nerdy, but it works)!
